Cremeria Scirocco
Andrea Bandiera left a career in computing to found Cremeria Scirocco in the spring of 2004, opening the lab on Via Barelli in March 2005; two decades on it holds the same top guide rating and a critic's-choice ranking, with a visible-lab commitment and a savoury/vegan range that goes further than most of its Bologna peers.
What to order
'Il mio pesto' (basil, pistachio, lemon) or the vegan Mandarino Tardivo di Ciaculli with bergamot and cashews
What we know
- One of only four Bologna gelaterie awarded Gambero Rosso's top Tre Coni rating in its 2027 guide
- All processing - gelato, semifreddi, sorbetti - takes place inside a fully visible laboratory that customers can watch through ('Laboratorio completamente a vista') (own site)
- States no preservatives, no colourings, no artificial flavourings and no hydrogenated fats in its raw materials, and makes its fruit gelati dairy-free for people with intolerances (own site)
- A 'punto fermo del gelato bolognese' for 22 years as of the June 2026 write-up, animating a peripheral neighbourhood rather than the historic centre (Dissapore)
- Runs alongside a range of savoury and vegan flavours - 'il mio pesto' (basil, pistachio, lemon), 'PePé' (peppers, chilli, balsamic vinegar) and a vegan Mandarino Tardivo di Ciaculli with bergamot and cashews (Dissapore)
