What we know

• Named alongside Kopp's, Leon's and Gilles as one of Milwaukee's oldest custard stands, but sits unambiguously inside city limits in the Capitol Heights neighborhood, avoiding the boundary questions attached to the other three
• Survived a real closure: went dark for several months before reopening in January 2023 under new ownership, not a continuous run
• New owner Ahmad Atrash was a regular customer before buying the business and says the recipes were kept 'true to the original Kitt's,' only shortening the menu to reduce wait times
• Rehired a manager, Judy, who had worked there for more than three decades, and collaborated with the previous owner Ray Rydz on the transition
• Ownership has passed through at least four hands since the 1950s (Kittredge family, then Rydz in 2000, then another owner in 2020, then Atrash in 2022) without the business folding for good
