Jednorożec Lody Tradycyjne

Jednorożec is the single most consistently documented artisan gelato address in Warsaw across a 12-year span of independent press, with a named founder, a traceable origin story, and visible on-site production. It is the shop the city's own local press treats as the benchmark other lodziarnie are compared against.

What we know

  • In-lab production visible to customers through a glass wall ('nasze laboratorium znajduje się za szklaną ścianą' — money.pl, 2016)
  • Uses a classic ice-cream machine patented in the 1920s, described by the founder as 'a return to craft' ('Ta maszyna to powrót do rzemiosła' — WP.pl, 2014)
  • Recipe and method brought directly from a Bologna gelateria experience in 2012, per the founder's own account
  • Continuous operation since September 2014 at the same Narbutta address, confirmed independently in 2014, 2016, 2025 and 2026 sources
  • Reported to still draw queues of 'kilkanaście minut' (10+ minutes) at opening in warm weather, per Warszawa Nasze Miasto (2025)
  • Up to 150 kg of ice cream produced on-site daily as of 2016 (money.pl)
