Günther Gelato Italiano

A regional identity carried into the ingredients rather than into the branding: named Dolomite spring water in the sorbets, mountain pine in the signature flavour, a South Tyrolean maker who arrived in Rome by another route entirely. Three Roman outlets have covered it in the past year.

What to order
Pino Mugo, or the Ricotta Stregata.

What we know

  • Plose spring water, drawn in the Dolomites, is used in the sorbets specifically
  • Organic microfiltered milk in the cream flavours
  • Pino Mugo — mountain pine oil, fresh cream and organic milk — is the house flavour and has been tasted and named by two Roman outlets
  • Ricotta Stregata pairs ricotta and Strega liqueur with candied peel and Arriba dark chocolate from Ecuador
  • Rohregger was a carpenter and ski instructor in South Tyrol before he trained as a gelatiere in Rome
